Mesmerizing and awe-inspiring are not words one would typically associate with a mall, but there are no words to truly capture the experience of the Dubai Mall, the world’s second-largest shopping center. Attracting over 1.5 billion visitors, it is the most visited building on Earth.

Spanning 217 square miles, the mall could fit more than 50 football fields inside, with plenty of space to spare. With over 1,200 stores, 120 restaurants, and 20 movie theaters, it boasts many other notable attractions.

During our visit, we spent several hours replacing a lost bag and its contents. Below is a description of some of the attractions we explored at the mall.

Dubai Dino

This exhibit features a 150-million-year-old skeleton of a Diplodocus longus dinosaur, standing 25 feet tall and measuring 80 feet long. Excavated in 2008 from a quarry in Wyoming, United States, and reconstructed from more than 90% of its original bones, it is one of the most complete and largest dinosaurs ever found on Earth.

Dubai Mall Waterfall

This 24-meter-tall exhibit features statues of divers, representing pearl diving, the primary source of income for locals in Dubai before the advent of oil drilling. It also serves as a celebration of the importance of water to the region.

This ice rink situated in the mall, is Olympic sized and charges around $100 for 3 hours.

Aquarium

The gigantic aquarium at the mall had more than 140 species of sea creatures, including 400 species of sharks and rays. Visitors can get a glimpse of some of these from the outside. Tickets start at around $50.

Website

Food Court

As one would expect, the Mall has a gigantic foodcourt with a variety of international cuisines to suit every palate.
