We did not find the missing bag at the airport and decided to head to our hotel.
Our home away from home was the Nejoum Al Emarat Hotel, located in Sharjah, Dubai’s neighboring city, about 12 miles from the airport. The choice was based on affordability, and it turned out to be a great one. We got a room with three beds, which worked out well. The room was clean and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and attentive. They were always quick to respond to our needs, whether it was for fresh towels, coffee, tea, or water. The hotel offers in-room catering, as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the restaurant. It also includes a sauna and a spa. The prices are more than reasonable.
The breakfast buffet costs 25 AED and includes a freshly made omelette, Indian sambar, samosas, dosas, and some other continental options. There’s also salad, vegetables, and more. Various types of tea and coffee are freshly prepared for an additional 10 AED.
Lunch is also reasonably priced at 40 AED and includes cream of chicken soup, grilled fish, baked chicken, salad, and other offerings.
The hotel is surrounded by several high-rise apartment buildings in a busy part of town. There are numerous supermarkets, eateries, and pharmacies nearby.

My wife had an eye infection, and the pharmacist across from the hotel, Emirates Pharmacy provided excellent service and advice. The infection cleared up within a day.
If you’re on a budget (or wish to save money for other activities), this hotel is a great place to stay.

This fine eatery beside the hotel satisfied our midnight cravings with its delicious shwarmas.
It must be noted that while Sharjah is more affordable than Dubai, it is also a dry emirate. If you’re looking for alcohol, you’ll need to take a short ride to Dubai or Ajman.
