A wedding in the family took us to Houston, Texas, where we discovered some unique venues.

Sri Meenakshi Devasthanam

The auditorium at Sri Meenakshi Temple in Pearland was the site of the wedding. It almost felt like a stroke of luck to be at such a beautiful venue, a temple dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Meenakshi, a manifestation of Goddess Parvathi, the Hindu deity representing feminine power and motherhood.

While Sri Meenakshi occupies the main shrine, smaller shrines are dedicated to other Indian deities like Rama, Durga, and Ayappa. The temple was built by S.M. Ganapathy, an Indian architect and recipient of the Padmasri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor. It is modeled on South Indian Dravidian-style architecture. This is one of the cleanest and most well-maintained temples I have visited.

The auditorium on the temple grounds is also impressive. I would encourage you to pay a visit to this venue.

Address: 17130 McLean Rd, Pearland, TX 77584 Phone: (281) 489-0358 Deity: Meenakshi (Parvati)
