This is one of the best cocktail bars in San Jose, or in the Bay Area itself. Situated in the heart of downtown, its unique logo resembles both a ‘paper-plane’ and an arrow, signaling to passersby that this is the place to be.

Its interior is equally impressive. The exposed brick walls, the gigantic display of bottles, and the mural on its back wall all add to its allure. The bar’s website proudly proclaims that this is one of the biggest displays in the area, carefully curated with the best selections. The venue has ample space most days, both at the bar (no pun intended) and in the seating area, though on occasion, it seems inadequate to handle its deluge of patrons.

The bartenders are amicable and competent with their craft. The cocktail offerings are good, and some are quite unique.

I loved the First Reau, though my lady found it spicy. The Coco Suave was good too and not as sweet as we expected. I asked the bartender to surprise me with whiskey and mint, and she delivered. Her creation was delicious, just the right amount of spirit, not too sweet!

The appetizers we tried were also great. The deviled eggs had a nice sprinkling of South Indian pickle, and the koji wings were tender with the right blend of spice. The patrons are also friendly. There are few places in the area that offer a relaxing atmosphere for both the younger crowd and the older generation. This is definitely one of them. I expect to keep coming back here, again and again. If you have not been there yet, do it soon.
