One of my favorite places to visit near me is Half Moon Bay, just a twenty-minute drive from San Francisco. The drive is scenic, taking you through the hills until you reach one of several beaches along the Pacific coastline.
One great spot to visit is the Half Moon Bay Brewery. Situated with stunning views of the ocean, the brewery offers a plethora of beers and some fine dishes. The decor is impressive too, as is the seating arrangement. We tried the Calamari and the Clam Chowder.
Having lived in New England for two and a half decades, I have always been skeptical about having seafood anywhere else. However, a spoonful of Clam Chowder made me a believer. Served in a bread bowl, the sumptuous soup packed all the flavors I would expect from it. The Calamari was also excellent.
Feeling adventurous, I tried the Popsicle Stand Blackberry, Raspberry, And Lemon Sour Blond Ale. It was fruity and sour, but surprisingly delicious. The berries gave it a great kick.
I also tried the Silvereye, an Australian pale ale with a hint of Mango and Guava. It was also good, though not as fruity as its predecessor. The ride, the ambiance, and the food make this quaint brewery-restaurant worth the visit.
