Dead End is one of the most popular podcasts of 2022, lucidly narrated by Nancy Solomon. Solomon, a reporter for NJ Public radio transforms herself from investigative reporter to investigator on grisly deaths of a New Jersey power couple and attempts to solve the mystery surrounding it. The investigation will open a can of worms in the garden state politics with far reaching repercussions.

The podcast begins almost like a run of the mill 48 hours crime mystery with what appears to be a murder suicide of a New Jersey power couple, John and Joyce Sheridan. The investigators conclude that John stabbed Joyce and then set their house ablaze before stabbing himself. Upon later closer examination it was revealed that there was a possibility of a botched investigation and a possible cover-up by the authorities. There will also be some subsequent events that point to the possibility of there being more to the story.

John Sheridan a lawyer for former NJ Governor Christie’s campaign, had served as government official under two other former NJ governors. He was serving as the CEO of Cooper Health Systems in Camden before his death. The Cooper Health was headed by George Norcross, a powerful power broker for the Democratic Party, and controlled Camden’s waterfront. It was brought to light that billions of dollars of federal grants provided to develop the waterfront never made their way to accomplish the task.

The oldest son of the Sheridans, Mark decided to hire his own crime scene experts after it was established that the knife used to commit the murders was missing from the scene of the crime. To add to the intrigue, Sean Caddle a democratic operative pleaded guilty to the murder of Michael Galdieri a son of NJ politician, five years after the murder of the Sheridans. The modus operendi for both the Sheridan murders and the murder of Galdieri seem to have similarities, in that, both sets of murders were stabbings followed by setting of the house of the victims on fire.

Another cause for concern was that the State’s Attorney general’s office initially refused to investigated the case. This podcast, through its popularity has increased public interest and awareness in the case. Thanks to the efforts of Mark Sheridan and public scrutiny, the attorney general’s office has now reconsidered and will open up the case for investigation.

This is a riveting podcast that is worth your time.

The podcast has also brought more scrutiny into NJ’s political system and the powerful politicians and power players who control it. This
